What Is A CNA?
It has been stupid of me not to answer the most fundamental question that the readers of this blog most be having i.e what is a CNA? I should have answered that before publishing my post about red cross cna class. Not a problem, I shall rectify my mistake with today’s post.
CNA stands for Certified Nursing Assistant. CNAs work wherever there is a need for personal medical care and assistance like in hospitals, nursing homes, adult day health centers etc. The nursing assistants need to work under the supervision of a nurse.
Key functions of a CNA includes:
- Recording vital signs of the patient
- Assisting the patient in prescribed motion exercises
- Dressing, Feeding and Bathing the patients
- Catheter care
- Taking care of the patients’ rooms
- Record keeping of patient activity, medication
- Prompt intimation of any important change in patient health to the nurse
CNAs or nursing assistants play a vital role in the medical system. They are the medical professional with maximum contact with patient and hence they play a vital role in shaping the impression of the medical in the minds of patients.
